SturgisParents.com was started in 2008 to provide families with information about events going on at Sturgis and to facilitate cooperation between SPA members, committees and volunteers. SPA parent Carol Keefe volunteered last year to keep the site updated with information about Sturgis. She and other SPA members work hard to keep parents well informed and connected with the school. I hope you will attend a SPA meeting in the Fall and join their efforts to support the students, parents and faculty of Sturgis Charter Public School. Participation in the Sturgis Parents Association was an important part of our family's connection with our son during his high school years. We made new friends, gained insight into the Sturgis "IB for All" philosophy and were allowed to participate fully in the school culture. Whether your student is a rising freshman, sophomore or junior, I encourage you to join SPA and relish this special opportunity that Sturgis has offered our families. Have an enjoyable summer,
Cindi Griffin Alumni Parent, Class of 2010

Sturgis Makes US News List Of America's Best IB High Schools
From U.S. News & World Report "The International Baccalaureate program is globally recognized for its ability to prepare students for a college education. High school students enrolled in IB classes can earn college credit two ways. They can take individual IB subject tests, for which they can earn credit at some colleges if they score high enough. Students also can opt to earn an IB diploma after completing a series of IB courses and writing an extended essay. Many colleges grant students credit for the IB diploma. This chart spotlights all the IB schools in the America's Best High Schools rankings sorted by the percentage of 12th graders that took at least one IB test at some point during high school."
