1. Minutes from February 9th meeting approved.
2. Treasurer Report: Ending balance is $2988.16
3. Administrative update by Eric Hieser:
Sturgis has sent letters of recommendation for seven students to the Cape Cod Times Rising Stars. (An annual profile of Cape Cod Students featured in the Cape Cod Times newspaper)
Sturgis is hosting several Boston Public Schools that are interested in IB including Snowden International School and Josiah Quincy.
Charter School Journal has contacted Sturgis to gather information for a feature that will highlight the school in their Summer Edition.
Special Education classes went to Salem College and Endicott State to examine possibilities for higher learning.
IB night will be March 19, 2009.
IB Theater group went on a field trip to Boston to see the "Theater of Absurd," and they loved it!
As of this meeting, last day will be June 12, 2009.
4. CAS Presentation: Jeff Hyer gives a brief explanation of the IB Diploma requirement of Creativity, Action & Service, also known as CAS. Three Sturgis Juniors, Kelsey, Lydia and Mike tell the group what path they have taken to achieve the eight learning outcomes required for the IB program.
5. Auction Update by Krsana Henry: We have collected 175 donations in so far - Still looking for some big ticket items and experiences. A very generous Sturgis parent who is also a member at St. George's is donating the money for the Hall. The next meeting will be from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday March 11, 2009 at Sturgis.
6. MCAS Snack Funding: MCAS tests are March 31, April 1 and 2, May 19 and 20 and June 4, 5 and 9th. At the April meeting we will vote whether to continue paying for MCAS snacks; in the meantime the school will pay.
7. New Business. None.
