Welcome to Sturgis!

The Sturgis Parents Association would like to welcome all incoming students and their families to a new year at Sturgis. We invite all parents and guardians to join us at our monthly SPA meetings, the first of which will be held on Tuesday September 14th at 7 pm at Sturgis. We will be electing officers and planning an agenda for the rest of the 2009-2010 school year.

We know that at your first year at Sturgis, you'll hear a lot of "lingo" that you may not know. So here is a quick glossary.

SPA = Sturgis Parents Association

I.B.O. = International Baccalaureate Organization

IB = International Baccalaureate - comparable to AP or Advanced Placement designation for coursework

T.O.K = Theory of Knowledge, a class that is required in the IB Diploma Program

I.T.G.S = Information Technology in a Global Society - an IB Class

EE = Extended Essay - The 4,000 word essay that is part of the IB Diploma Program

IA = Internal Assessments associated with IB Classes

AG = Advisory Group

AGP = Advisory Group Parent

C.A.S. = Creativity, Action, Service association with IB Diploma Program

S.T.A.G.E. = Sturgis Theatre Arts Group of Entertainers - The after school drama club
